I was watching Dora the Explorer with the twins the other day. I just love Dora! She’s such a good egg, always helping her friends & up for an adventure!
On this particular episode Dora & Boots had to travel through the Forgetful Forest before they could reach their final destination.
Immediately I thought to myself, man I’d love to travel through the Forgetful Forest!
I could forget all the yucky things that are stuck in my head.
I could forget the mistakes I’ve made.
I could forget the times I’ve been hurt.
I could forget the times I’ve hurt others.
I could forget when I’ve been mean to my kids.
I could forget the times I’ve disappointed my spouse.
I could forget the times he has disappointed me.
Wouldn’t that be lovely?
But then I would also forget the blessings.
I would forget the joy of being pregnant & childbirth.
I would forget the pride I feel when one of my kids learns something new.
I would forget the excitement of watching my kids play sports.
I would forget the simple joy of having a family meal together.
So maybe a trip through the Forgetful Forest isn’t such a swell idea.
But you know who does forget?
Our Heavenly Father forgets our mistakes the minute we say we are sorry.
My devotion today had a powerful sentence that I am tucking inside my heart for those days when I long for the Forgetful Forest.
I know the worst about you, but I also see the best in you. ~ Jesus Calling
What a comfort!
To be fully known & still loved.
Take comfort tonight in the promise that Jesus loves you & longs to forgive you when you mess up.
No trip through the Forgetful Forest needed!
You are so loved.
