Rain, Rest & Renewal

I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. Leviticus 26:4

It’s a rainy, dreary day here in central Virginia.

I am meal prepping. I have two crockpots going & a casserole ready to bake for dinner. It’s high school softball season & I’ve got to get myself together!

I prefer sunny & 75.

But I know we need rainy days. Sometimes rain cancels our plans, our games & practices.

Sometimes it forces us to rest.

I love a nap on a rainy day. Actually I love a nap on any day!

While I don’t always enjoy the rain, I appreciate the benefits it allows us.

Beautiful green grass.

Pretty flowers.

Sweet fruit.

Yummy veggies. (I don’t really like vegetables but I know y’all probably think they are yummy.)

I also appreciate the benefit of being made to slow down, to rest.

My husband trimmed our rose bushes the other day. (We probably should’ve done that earlier in Winter, but that’s ok.).

Those poor rose bushes look just awful now.

But I know with this rain, this dormant season of rest combined with warmer weather just around the corner, they will bloom again.

Pruning, just like the rain, is necessary for the health of the plant. And in the Spring they will be gorgeous!

Maybe you are in a rainy, being pruned season.

It is not fun.

It feels long, lonely & painful.

But this season won’t last forever.

The sun will shine on you again.

You will bloom more beautifully than before!

I know, I’ve been there. And chances are you have too. But sometimes we forget. Sometimes we need to be reminded.

Take heart, you are not alone. You are loved. And you will be better, stronger than before.

Embrace this time & rest in the promise that you will enjoy brighter, more fruitful days.

You are so loved!
